A species allied to Dend fairchildeae, section calcaratum. Dend mutabile comes from Indonesia, South East Asia, and is a plant that seems to be continually growing. Hence a well drained media, in a pot or basket, that will stay damp but not wet is used. The canes will get quite long, and as the flowers are produced on the old canes, the longer the canes, the more flowers. Sunlight short of leaf burn is required, and a fistful of fertiliser and plenty of water makes a fine specimen.
