Eulophiella roempleriana

Eulophiella roempleriana
A Madagascan species that grows in the tops of a pandanus. The plant grows in the leaf axil of the pandanus in the collected debris, and the plant then sends out its elongated new growth to reach the next leaf axil.

Thus it is a species best suited to a basket or large sock like container, in a mixture of shredded spaghnam moss and isolite or similar well drained media that keeps the root system damp but not wet.

Maximum air circulation and a bright sunny spot is important. The spectacular rose purple flowers are up to 10 cm. across, the lip rich violet rose, the disc vivid yellow, on a robust spike or panicle with 15 to 30 flowers.

Flowers waxy, fragrant, long lasting.
