A large thick caned species from the Philippines. This species requires warm conditions, a large basket for maximum drainage and a rich Cymbidium type media. A form of G speciosum. When estabished, it will form a basket of aerial roots, which is designed to catch falling leaves and thus sustain the plant. Do not disturb the plant, merely throw some animal manure onto the basket. Maximum sunlight is required, and in warmer areas the plants do well hanging under a tree in the garden. This form has flower spikes that are erect and not arching, with flowers to about 10 cm across.
